They lived on the offshoots of the Yarra River - along the Merri, Edgars and Darebin Creeks - the Plenty River and the Maribyrnong River. WebIn 1886, the Aborigines' Protection Act 1886 (Vic) came into effect. Commonly referred to as the 'Half-caste Act', this law gave way for Aboriginal people who were of mixed descent and under 34 years old to be removed from the Reserve system.
