My favorite way to start a playthrough is: Pick up preferred ground weapon (estoc, ugs, winged spear, astora's etc) darkroot from valley of drakes (pick up gcs and open havel's along the way) parish from valley of drakes (upgrade weapon to +5, get firekeeper soul) Kill lautrec for FAP. Use elevator to firelink.
