It is diagnosed in 1 out of 10,000 newborns. Other names for this condition are septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) and de Morsier syndrome . WebSepto-optic dysplasia (SOD) is a condition in which several parts of a baby’s brain and nervous system fail to develop normally during pregnancy. Symptoms of the disorder vary widely and may include blindness, hormonal problems, and intellectual disabilities. In most cases, the cause of SOD is unknown.
